June 20, 2024 -- Emma Brace, Assistant Professor, B´ÎԪ Department of Engineering, with her students Avery Suza MCAS '26, Luke Baxter MCAS '27, and Melanie Cotta MCAS '26 in 245 Beacon. The team is conducting summer research completing xylitol assays, measuring how much xylitol the fermentations produced using a spectrophotometer. The assay causes a color change resulting in a gradient of samples/colors.

The Brace Lab at B´ÎÔª leads research in bioprocessing, downstream separations and recovery of biomolecules and bioproducts, and quantitative sustainable design [including techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA)] of bioproducts and biorefineries.
